By Alexia Nielsen App Store Continues Rapid Growth with 3 Billion iPhone and iPod Touch App Downloads
Apple announced today that over 3 billion apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch have been downloaded from the App Store since its launch on July 10, 2008. Apple did not reveal the breakdown between paid and free apps.
The App Store currently has over 100,000 apps available for download in 20 categories, including games, business, news, sports, health, reference and travel.
Previous milestones include 1 billion downloads and 35,000 apps available on April 23, 2009, and 2 billion downloads with 85,000 apps available on September 28, 2009.
